Yesterday felt cold and raw compared with the radiant mid-winter apricity felt earlier this week (yes, that's a neat word "apricity" ... apparently it means warmth of the sun in winter). It was an ideal day for some seed fellowship - indoors!
Thank-you for all who attended our first Propagation Workshop at The Brenton Arboretum. This intimate group met to learn the basics of working with and growing native seeds and cuttings, and share their own experience and aspirations. And, of course make and take their own trays of native seeds to propagate!
Before we all dug in and got our hands soil-y, participants got to shop our personal seed stores. Yes, we had enough to share this year for certain tree and perennial species. Some they got exclusive access to, and some that didn't get used, will be added to our store this week - check out what's newly available here!
We hope to work more with the Brenton Arboretum, (one of our favorite places!) to bring more workshops and adult offerings, and see where we can offer more accessibility. Please feel welcome to reach out on behalf of your group as well, we would love to come out to you!
And, kids groups are free. We recognize the need for more botanists and horticulturists, and want to make these early experiences accessible for all the kiddos. We are schedule limited at times, so please contact us early.
In the meantime, look for more opportunities to connect, learn and grow with us!
We have two plant markets this season (see homepage for details) and hope to offer more learning and group events. And you can always see what's happening or reach out anytime on our facebook and instagram.
Until next time - See you later propagators!
