About

Our small, home-grown business is born from a love of people and the land. Iowa is rich, diverse and strong. Our stewardship maintains our strength, resilience and resistance to stress. This is why we focus on native plants with the diverse genetics needed to support our farmsteads, urban green infrastructure, and healthy lives.
Plants are grown low-chem or no-chem to ensure they can do their best work to support our healthy environment and pollinators.
We grow using air-pruning technology so you can have improved planting success.
Sources are diligently and honestly documented. If you want to know an origin story, just ask!
We only collect with permission from healthy, abundant populations.

Nursery(wo)man and owner, Lee, has over ten years of nursery and conservation experience. She grew up along a midwestern river gardening with her parents. Later, she earned a B.A. in Ecology from the University of Northern Iowa, where she fell in love with field trips, plant I.D. and work caring for plants at the Botanical Center on campus. Afterward, she worked with grapevines, looking deep at abiotic stress in woody plants while she earned an M.S. in Horticulture from Iowa State University. It was difficult to find work in 2009, but she landed fortuitously at a local Design Build and Garden Center where she furthered her industry knowledge and skills using forklifts and loaders. She's led education groups at local arboretums, sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge with anyone who will listen. Finally, she found her favorite career as a nursery(wo)man, providing native, ecologically-relevant ornamental plant material for anyone looking for something real, and something beautiful.
