Clump-forming sedge with ornamental seed heads grows to about 2-feet tall. Plant in full to part sun. This delightful sedge is a wonderful "living-mulch", and fills in blank spots in the landscape to keep the weeds out. It does not compete with its neighbors, but can naturalize. This little one is actually rare or even endangered in other states in it's native range. Help it gain some ground in your landscape!

This seed is naturally pretty "clean", but there may be minimal chaff with seed.

Lot viability is un-tested. Previous lots from parent plants performed well. Best results were after outdoor cold stratification for 60+ days.

Seed:

"Clean" means seed only with minimal debris. "Uncleaned" means with fruit, wings, etc. still attached.

Please keep materials cool but not frozen until planting. Do not allow plants to desiccate, leave them in hot cars or neglect them immediately after planting. Materials are alive. ISA, DNR and other resources are plentiful to describe best planting and sowing.

This store will only ship seed orders. Shipping plants to you will cost more than the plants. Plant materials can be picked up by appointment.

Seed packs ship priority, within Iowa, through USPS. Perishable seed ships ground and should arrive within two days of shipment. You may also pick up any seed with a plant order. Please ensure you select the appropriate city if you want your seed order combined with your plant order for pick up.

Plant material and seed are alive and we do not accept returns. Please contact us if you are dissatisfied with the performance of your seeds.

Care Instructions

Keep seeds in a cool, dry place until planting. Freeze with great caution or not at all.

Keep plants cool and adequately watered until planting. Avoid leaving them inside a hot vehicle or bag. Keep plants watered until rooted in. Ensure good planting and care practices.
